World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to increase an item's gear score up to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you bring them to the Kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For example an excellently rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth the cost.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage, PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. A lot of weapons also have a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a single unit. This bonus may be greater than the damage that an upgrade alone can do.
The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and current level. For example, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons can also reroll the stats of their base. While this is generally an excellent thing, it can have some negative consequences as well. For items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them can render them unusable unless you get a fortunate roll.
It is possible to upgrade armor items to increase their effectiveness. For instance, if you have chests or helms this will increase its base defense while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it is able to roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain after upgrading, along with the values of these stats. This means that a change from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon receiving an attack damage of 3. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with circular arrows within the menu for items. This will reroll the item and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's levels or tie it to the account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make a a huge difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, making the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. To upgrade item upgrade , head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. You can't upgrade your armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or the power of spells. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Potions

There are also simmering potions that are made using dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can be added to lingering potions to enhance their effect. Trinkets
